MSC Cruises has unveiled details of its wearable tech program ‘MSC for Me.’
Presented at ITB Berlin, a RFID bracelet allows passengers to book restaurants and shore excursions even before embarkation and offers recommendations based on individual preferences.
It also features geo-location tracking and face recognition, and up to the minute information on shipboard activities.
It debuts on MSC Meraviglia in June, followed by new ship MSC Seaside in November 2017.
"This journey started three years ago and today guests are less than 90 days away from experiencing a whole new cruise experience. We are bringing some of the latest and most-advanced solutions and technology on board our ships," said Luca Pronzati, chief innovation officer for MSC Cruises.
"Like smart, connected cities, but with the added complexity of being at sea, our fleet will demonstrate MSC Cruises’ commitment to true innovation today and for years to come."
To power the system, MSC Meraviglia will have 16,000 connectivity points, 700 digital access points, and 2,244 staterooms with the contactless technology.
