New Accovia executive looks at dynamic packaging
As the new vice president of sales and services at Accovia Inc., Paul Robillard may use some of his background as part of the group that formed bonjourquebec.com.
“That was using suppliers and the government in a sort of dynamic packaging. It was very successful,” he told TravelMole.
That program was geared mainly to “smaller players such as B&B,” according to Mr Robillard. But the program is also looking to involve tour operators and travel agents as well.
Mr Robillard said he is new to the travel business, though he has two decades of work in the high-tech industry, mainly in government and financial services.
He thinks there are similarities in how those industries and the travel business is handling high-tech elements. He said:
“Many of them are using the internet as a new distribution model. They’re also similar in terms of packaging products in different ways, and in using technology to reach new markets. They’re eliminating some distribution players and replacing them with new ones.”
In his new position, Mr Robillard will be responsible for the continued growth and expansion of its customer base, which includes 40 travel companies in eight countries, including the US, Canada and France.
“We’ll be looking at many new things to be done. That may be new markets. Maybe new platforms serving smaller customers ….stuff like that,” he said.
He expects to also to enhance Accovia’s dynamic packaging efforts.
The company says it has the only complete travel distribution service to cost-effectively connect travel markets and distributors to GDSs and internet travel channels using a single connection.
