New indigenous tourism website
A new website designed to help communities unlock the ‘untapped potential’ of indigenous tourism has been unveiled.
The site will help to draw a growing numbers of international tourists and assist indigenous tourism operators grow their businesses, according to Mr Bob Baldwin, Parliamentary Secretary for Industry Tourism and Resources.
The new site will link these businesses to funding programs, marketing assistance, case studies and other business development resources.
“The very remoteness that is often part of their appeal, can pose difficult problems for indigenous communities to overcome,” Mr Baldwin said.
“For this reason, the community page of the website offers a unique mechanism to help operators contact one another to share stories and concerns in a way that will help the industry grow sustainably.”
The www.indigenoustourism.australia.com portal will be available from today (Sept 20)
