Food, culture, nature, hospitality = wellbeing

Global Top100 Sustainable Destination Best of Romagna has unveiled a small group program for 2018 from $1190 for 9 days in the unspoiled heart of Italy with the opportunity to see sensational cities a little further afield.

All of the arrangements focus on enjoying good local food and wine, authentic and hospitable local accommodation and glorious experiences of sublime cities of art and the natural world.

Romagna is ideally situated between Venice, Florence, the Apennines and the Adriatic so it is an ideal place to explore the glories of Italy. "Taste of the Heart of Italy"  – 9 days from $1190 per person, has been designed as an opportunity to see and experience many treasures of Italian culture whilst being based in a lovely Italian country

Staying in a historic castle-topped village, the participants will experience the Best of Romagna scenery, food and wine, culture and hospitality. At least one typical local meal with wine is included every day, as is a sumptuous home-cooked Italian breakfast. The group will enjoy included wine tastings at organic and biodynamic vineyards. Ravenna was the imperial capital of the Roman Empire some 1500 years ago and is now a world heritage site, a guided visit to this glorious city is included, as is one to Leonardo da Vinci’s port of Cesenatico.

Another of the many unique experiences included in this trip is a little train journey through the hills with extraordinary views to Florence for the day. Returning to Romagna, the evening is rounded off by a splendid (included) feast of great local food at one of the very best restaurants in the area.

Specially-arranged optional excursions include a full day visit to Venice and a half day cookery class at "The Best Cookery School in Italy" with a visit to a historic local vineyard (naturally with a wine tasting of wines provided to Popes and presidents).

The tour even includes a night’s stay in Italy’s foodie capital Bologna and a visit to the world-famous food district and the rich historical area.

Those that want a concentrated experience of a very special destination will enjoy the Undiscovered Italy – food & wine, culture and wellbeing holidays   – from $1400 for 9 days

This arrangement begins in Bologna with a stay and a visit to the food area before continuing into Romagna to explore this historical wine and food-laden area to the full.

Staying in a lovely Italian country house in a historic village, the groups will proceed to explore the area’s culture and history and stunning views, not forgetting the superb food and wine. No less than three superb wine tastings are included and a number of extraordinary meals – all showcasing the glorious local harvests of seasonal food and the amazing historical cuisine.

The arrangement includes guided walks and a range of other experiences in the natural world plus visits to some of Italy’s less well-known cities of art – including Faenza, Cesena, Rimini and Sant Agata Feltria plus a visit to the mountaintop republic of San Marino.

Naturally a visit to the world heritage city of Ravenna is included – with its array of 1500-year old mosaics and basilicas it is the trip of a lifetime.

All tours are restricted to small groups (maximum 15 people) and are directed at the USA market. There are very special arrangements for travel agents.

For arrivals at in Rome or Milan or Venice, train travel to Bologna can be easily arranged.

The program has been thoroughly tested by US travel agents and groups in 2016 and 2017 and has achieved top ratings and warm commendations from every participant. See the story: HERE

There is some current availability on the Travel Agent’s familiarization program  for this autumn.
