The Atlantis Hotel on the east coast of Barbados is due to reopen by Christmas following extensive restoration.
The property, which started life as a grand private house in the 19th century, has been acquired by the owner of the island’s boutique resort Little Good Harbour.
The Atlantis is being turned into a ten room suite hotel with the intention of having one rate for rooms year round.
The work is being carried out by Andrew Warden and his wife Patricia who also plan to create an ocean front restaurant.
“We are of the opinion Barbados lacks family-style sea front restaurants and thus the menu will be priced extremely reasonably in order to encourage people, locals and holidaymakers alike, to visit the unspoilt east coast of Barbados and the Atlantis,” he said.
