Olympic peace: programme revised
New backers announced including UNESCO
A revised programme for youth peace ambassadors has been announced by Gordon Sillence of the London 2012 peace campaign.- it has been restructured to reflect the greater involvement of UNESCO, and moved to the 24th-9th September to allow greater preparation and time to raise funds for travel expenses.
Sillence has also announced that this week Caroline Lucas, MP for Brighton Pavilion has offered her support for the event, which makes Brighton the likely training venue.
Supporting organizations are still needed to send in nominations and look for travel and accommodation costs.
The programme aims to bring 42 youth representatives from conflict zones and areas of violence around the world to the London Olympics to celebrate the 6 weeks of global peace.
Whilst in the UK the youths will undergo a three week workshop programme training them as youth peace ambassadors. After the Olympics they will be supported to continue the work of peace making in their home countries.
A total of 42 teenagers from areas of conflict/violence around the world are due to arrive in the UK, with attendants.
Workshops include:

- UN Mechanisms to achieve global peace:
