Pasifika Air ditches launch plans
New Cook Islands airline startup Pasifika Air has been grounded permanently. Founder Mike Pero had delayed a launch and put the business on hold due to no progress in a New Zealand-Cook Islands travel bubble. He has now said there is no chance of it getting off the ground in the current climate.
Pero says the new business has not received much support from the Cook Islands government over offering attractive airport fee incentives and Pasifika Air is unable to access maintenance services in New Zealand, among various other obstacles.
The airline had planned to fly from Wellington and Christchurch to the Cook Islands.
