Police in India have launched a criminal inquiry after a female flight attendant alleged she was sexually assaulted on a flight by a male colleague.
Air India is also investigating the alleged incident on May 4.
Local media reported that the flight attendant had an altercation with the pilot, Zoyeb Khan, after he allegedly made lewd comments to her.
The incident was reported to airline officials immediately after the flight from Ahmedabad landed in Mumbai and a criminal complaint to police was lodged the next day.
Khan stands accused of assault with intent to outrage a woman’s modesty under the Indian penal code, but he has not been charged so far.
In a statement, Air India said: "Since the matter is under investigation, we cannot make any comment. We’ll extend all cooperation to facilitate the process of investigation."
