Pilot suspended for leaving cockpit door open during flight

The UK Civil Aviation Authority is investigating an incident where a British Airways pilot reportedly left a cockpit door open during a transatlantic flight.

The pilot was briefly suspended from duty.

The pilot apparently left the door open so family members could watch him at work in the cockpit.

There is no suggestion any unauthorized persons entered the cockpit during the flight last week from London Heathrow to New York-JFK.

An airline source said it made other passengers feel ‘incredibly uneasy.’

The incident was reported to the airline and the pilot was briefly suspended.

It caused the cancellation of the flight back to London.

The open cockpit door violated both UK and US aviation rules.

The pilot was reinstated after an internal investigation

“Safety and security is our top priority and allegations of this nature are always fully investigated,” the airline said.

The Civil Aviation Authority has opened an investigation.
