Plane crash kills 10 at Texas airport

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board are on the scene at a fiery crash which killed 10 at a Texas airport.

The small Beechcraft twin engine plane crashed into a hangar at Addison Airport, located just outside Dallas.

The two crew members and eight passengers all died.

The flight was heading to St. Petersburg, FL, and just after taking off it veered left and slammed into the hangar.

There was no one in the hangar at the time although two other aircraft were damaged.

The agency is still trying to determine the cause.

"We cannot confirm that there was engine failure at this point. There are any number of possibilities that could occur and we’re not in a position to speculate on those kinds of things," said Bruce Landsberg, vice chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board.

The airport was closed for a short period but reopened later on Sunday.

Addison Airport mostly handles small scale cargo and charter flights.
