Porter Airlines extends grounding until December

Monday, 14 Oct, 2020 0

Canadian carrier Porter Airlines has once again delayed its planned restart.

The Toronto-based airline won’t take off again until at least 15 December.

It has been grounded since March and has been forced to push back planned reopening dates multiple times.

It had finally hoped to resume operations on 12 November.

"The flare up of Covid-19 cases in certain markets during the last month dampened any expectation of changes to government restrictions that will enable us to begin flying again in November," said Porter President and CEO Michael Deluce.

"The federal government is indicating that they need more confidence about what course the pandemic will take before restrictions are reconsidered. We hope that lifting of travel restrictions will soon be possible."

The airline, which is based at Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport, said change fees and cancellation charges continue to be waived until 15 December.
