Thank you for bringing such an all important issue into focus. As Professor Goodwin points out, everybody in the travel industry seems to talk about sustainability, and why not, it’s trendy and good PR. When trying to find those who take responsibility and DO something about it, one finds that its often private initiatives by courageous individuals that take the lead. One example: Gina Cronin’s Rancho de Caldera eco-hospitality project, one of the only luxurious resorts in the world that are truly environmentally friendly because they operate exclusively on clean energies like solar, water and wind power. Besides that, they grow organic vegetables in on site Bamboo green houses, recycle and have been certified by Green Globe to minimize their carbon footprint even further and be as sustainable as possible. http://www.ranchodecaldera.com
