Ryanair had 70 million passengers in the 12 months ending July 2010, a new record for the airline.
It also set a new monthly record as its traffic grew by 13% in July 2010 to 7.61m passengers, topping its previous milestone of 6.8m passengers set in August 2009.
However the year-to-date booked passenger figures include up to 1.45 million who were booked on flights which had to be cancelled when EU airspace was closed during the ash crisis.
