Royal Caribbean to charge for room service
Royal Caribbean is joining its two biggest competitors by charging for room service.
It will start charging a $7.95 fee from March 27 for the All Day Menu and American breakfast.
Continental breakfast will remain free, the line said.
The fee is similar to that charged by Norwegian Cruise Line while Carnival Cruise Line charges room service fee on an a la carte basis per item.
"This was introduced to manage the high demand," Royal Caribbean spokesperson Lyan Sierra-Caro said.
Grand Suites guests will still receive complimentary room service.
RCCL has imposed a fee for post midnight after hours room service orders for several years and confirmed that fee would now be applicable 24 hours a day.
It was announced as the cruise line revamps its room service menu fleet-wide with more options.
