Search called off for man overboard from Princess ship
Rescue teams have called off the search for a man who went overboard from the Sun Princess ship during a 13-day cruise of New Zealand.
CCTV showed the 84-year-old man going overboard on Monday night around 175 nautical miles east of Sydney.
According to The Maritime Executive, the search was called off after Australian maritime safety experts advised that the man, who entered the water from a height of around 25m, was very unlikely to have survived.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) said the man would not have been able to survive in the water for an extended period of time given his age, clothing and rough weather conditions.
The Princess Cruises ship stayed in the area during the search.
