Police have increased security across Sydney after the 16-hour café siege which left two hostages and the gunman dead.
Mother-of-three Katrina Dawson, a barrister, 38, and cafe manager Tori Johnson, 34, died after officers stormed the Lindt café in Martin Place.
Operation Hammerhead has since been launched which will increase police presence at transport hubs, landmarks and places of worship to safeguard the public, including members of the Muslim Community.
An exclusion zone is in place around the crime scene, with some road closures.
More police will be on the streets over the holiday period.
The gunman was Man Haron Monis, 50, a self-styled Muslim cleric, who was born in Iran and sought political asylum in Australia in 1996.
He had a criminal record and was known to police. He had a history of religiously inspired activism, but officials say there is no evidence the siege was linked to international Islamist movements.
