Senators criticize airlines over expiring flight credits
Democrat Senators Edward Markey and Richard Blumenthal called out major U.S. airlines for not making all Covid-impacted flight credits valid indefinitely.
They said airlines, via trade group Airlines for America, had ‘refused to offer any commitment to expand cash refund policies or eliminate expiration dates.’
They ‘continue to sit on more than $10 billion in unused flight credits and are still refusing to return consumers’ hard-earned money, more than a year after the pandemic began.’
Airline for America said airlines refunded more than $12 billion in cash refunds to customers last year.
