Seychelles tourism minister resigns

Friday, 30 December 20163 min read
Seychelles tourism minister has tendered his resignation with a view to run for the post of secretary general of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation.
Alain St. Ange has held the post of Seychelles tourism minister since 2012.
"The time to formally put my name forward as a candidate has arrived and I will need to undertake some travel from very early in January for this coming election. The extended absence from the office and from the country will not be conducive to my existing position" St. Ange said in his resignation letter to Seychelles President Danny Faure.
"During the time when I was part of the Government, I know that I worked tirelessly for our country’s tourism industry and the results today speak for themselves. The ministry initiated a lot and, with the support of the private sector, we delivered for Seychelles".
President Danny Faure has nominated Maurice Loustau-Lalanne as St. Ange’s replacement as tourism minister.
