Six Flags Entertainment Corp has targeted 2021 for the opening of its first theme park in Saudi Arabia.
The company plans to build up to three parks in the country.
The parks will cost up to $500 million each and will likely be owned by the Saudi government.
Six Flags chairman Jim Reid-Anderson said the first park is earmarked for Riyadh, likely followed by Jeddah and an unnamed location on the Red Sea coast.
"The parks are likely to be government-owned, although that’s not guaranteed yet, because talks are still early and there can be changes," Reid-Anderson told Reuters.
Six flags began talks earlier this year with the Saudi government which is keen to develop its tourism industry.
Six Flags currently only operates parks in North America but has signed an agreement earlier this year to bring the brand to Vietnam.
