An official investigation into an air crash in southern India in May has blamed a sleepy pilot.
The three-hour Air India Express flight, on its way from Dubai to Mangalore, crashed when it overshot the runway.
All but eight of the 166 people on board were killed. Most were immigrant workers on their way home from the Gulf.
The report found that Air India pilot Zlatko Glusica had been asleep for most of the flight and was “disorientated” as the plane began its descent, ignoring warnings from his co-pilot.
According to media reports in India, the report said he approached the Mangalore runway at the wrong height and angle.
His co-pilot was heard on voice recordings urging him to go round again, the report revealed.
