Indian carrier SpiceJet said it is in concurrent discussions with both Boeing and Arbus for at least 100 planes.
The company is considering Boeing’s 737 Max and Airbus’ A320neo and plans to place an order within three months.
India’s fourth biggest airline aims to increase its fleet size four-fold.
It currently operates 41 aircraft.
Co-founder Ajay Singh said the airline is now benefitting from low fuel prices with first quarter net profits up three-fold.
Singh previously said its next big aircraft order will likely be placed with a single planemaker.
SpiceJet is also in tentative talks with Embraer, ATR and Bombardier over an order for an additional 50 smaller jets.
India is expected to become the world’s third largest aviation market by 2020 with Boeing and Airbus predicting at least 1,700 new aircraft will be needed to support the growth.
