Starwood keyless entry app goes live at 10 hotels
Following a trial program earlier this year, hotel group Starwood is rolling out its Bluetooth-enabled room access in 10 of its hotels, with more to go live early next year.
The SPG Keyless app allows Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty members to enter rooms using a smart phone and is offered from today at three Starwood brands.
The first hotels to go live are Aloft Harlem, Aloft Cupertino, Aloft Beijing, Aloft Cancun, W New York – Downtown, W Hollywood, W Singapore, W Hong Kong, W Doha and Element Times Square.
Starwood plans to expand the roll out by the end of 2015 when SPG Keyless will be available at 30,000 rooms in 150 hotels globally.
SPG Keyless will be available to Starwood Preferred Guest members who book direct through hotel websites, SPG.com, via the SPG app or call centers.
"Innovation and personalization are at the forefront of everything we do at Starwood and SPG Keyless represents the perfect intersection of these two pillars," said Starwood CEO Frits van Paasschen.
"We are excited to be the first in our industry to debut this new technology allowing us to further deliver on the wants and needs of our early adopter, hyper-mobile guests."
