Technical issues affect ferry service
Technical issues have affected P&O Ferries’ Cairnryan in Scotland to Larne in Ireland service.
A card controlling the electronic mechanism for one of the propellers has failed and as there is no replacement in the fleet, a part is being flown out from Sweden via Aberdeen.
The ferry company said it is due to arrive in Northern Ireland later this morning and if it works, sea trials would take place this afternoon.
Normal schedule hopes to resume this evening.
A spokesman said that an emergency schedule has been issued and all passengers had been advised of the change.
He said: "We very much regret any inconvenience caused and are working as quickly as we can to restore normal service between Larne and Cairnryan."
The revised sailing schedule is ex Larne 07:30hrs, 13.30hrs, 19.30hrs and 01.30hrs and ex Cairnryan 10:30hrs, 16,30hrs, 22.30hrs, 04:00hrs
