Thai Airways customers forced to wait for refunds

Thai Airways say it owes refunds for THB24 billion (US$750 million) worth of tickets.
However customers are in for a long wait before they get compensated.
The airline admitted that its debt rehabilitation under the bankruptcy filing blocks the prospect of any payout to customers right now.
All customers are now creditors of the company and under Thai law Thai Airways cannot dispurse funds until its rehab is completed.
The airline has promised to refund customers within six months when it expects the debt rehabilitation to be finalised.
The airline said it has extended its grounding until July when it hopes travel restriction will be eased in many of the countries it serves.
"The resumption in July 2020 is still under consideration. Thai Air is monitoring the situation and preventive measures in each country as well as travel demand to resume services as the Covid-19 situation improves," it said in a website message.
Limited domestic flights in Thailand have restarted but no international services will resume until at least July.
Aside from refunds, customers with cancelled bookings can also opt to rebook when services resume or take a future travel credit.
The airline has about THB245 billion of outstanding debt.
