Thailand’s Cabinet has granted a further extension of the waiver of visa on arrival fees for travellers from some countries.
The waiver of the THB2,000 VoA fee will again be extended until the end of October 2019.
It was previously extended until April 31.
The government says the VoA waiver has boosted tourist arrival numbers from some of the 21 countries and territories it is offered to.
However the past two months have seen small declines in both arrivals and tourism-related spending, impacted by the Thai elections and ongoing air pollution problems in the north.
Arrivals and spending growth has been dragged down by fewer Chinese for the past two months although arrivals from India are up by more than one-third.
Tourism in Thailand is a critical industry, accounting for nearly 20% of GDP.
