Tiger has now well and truly stamped its paw print on Australia with the announcement of its latest route to Adelaide announced today. From 10 January 2008
Tiger Airways Australia will operate two flights a day between Adelaide and its home base of Melbourne.
One-way fares start from a low $9.95 inclusive of taxes and charges and subject to regulatory approval.
Tony Davis, CEO of Tiger Aviation, said “Tiger’s announcement of low low fares to Adelaide will ensure that the same level of competition exists in the air as it does when the Crows or Port Adelaide play at the MCG.”
Tony Davis added, “For the first time travelers between the two states will get the real deal when it comes to flying.” “No longer will a getaway to the footy or a weekend away at a South Australian winery be out of reach for everyday Australians.”
South Australia’s Deputy Premier the Hon Kevin Foley MP welcomed Tigers’ announcement saying. “I am absolutely delighted that Tiger has decided to fly to Adelaide.” “Increased aviation competition is vital for the growth of the SA economy and these flights in particular are a welcome boost to the tourism industry.”
Tony Davis highlighted the progressive attitude of the South Australian Government when he stated “the State’s single minded focus of ensuring that South Australia is a viable option for innovative businesses such as Tiger is a breath of fresh air.”
