EDITOR’S NOTE
One of the recurring themes at last week’s BITOA convention in
Manchester was the need for the UK to be marketed more
effectively abroad: http://www.travelmole.com/item/72539
Many industry bosses including BHA boss Bob Cotton have pointed
out that the funds currently set aside are inadequate. But there
are other problems too. Speakers pointed out that the problem of
rival organisations vying for the same funds needs to be
addressed: http://www.travelmole.com/item/72608
And as ex-Dome boss P-Y Gerbeau points out, it takes more than
money to make a good ad campaign, it takes imagination too. Some
critics might argue that the UKOK campaign fails on both counts.
Best wishes
Richard Hammond

TravelMole’s reviewer Adrian Mann says: “If you only have a dial-
up connection, you may find it very slow, as all the pages are
heavily populated by advertisements, graphics, animations and
the like. Even with a fast connection, you’ll be spending a
while waiting for the pages to finish loading. But, as a portal
to other travel sites, it’s comprehensive…[and] if you’re
looking for a collection of travel links, definitely have a
look”. Read his full review:
