Travel payments firm Swiipr appoints US sales VP

Airline industry payments platform Swiipr has appointed Kirk Nagy as VP of Sales for the Americas.

It comes as the UK based business focuses on US market expansion.

Florida-based Nagy has more than 30 years of experience working for SaaS and data companies focused on airlines, ground handling companies and airports.

He joins from aviation data analysis firm Cirium, where he was responsible for enterprise business development in North America.

Nagy’s background also includes overseeing Americas sales and account teams, implementing SaaS solutions for airline network planning and revenue management,.

Previous positions include Regional VP and Head of Alliances, Partnerships and Resellers at Travelport, Commercial Director and Regional VP at Worldspan and Commercial Director at American Airlines.

Tara Spielhagen, Co-founder and CEO of Swiipr said: “We’re thrilled to have secured someone of Kirk’s pedigree to lead our US business.”

“We’ve seen a sharp rise in interest for our payment solutions from both existing partners and potential partners in the US this year.”

“We expect that more US airlines will be looking to modernise their practices as US Department of Transportation rules tighten up, giving passengers more clearly defined rights.”

Nagy added: “I’m excited to be joining the Swiipr team at such a crucial stage in its growth. Airlines in the US are increasingly discovering the benefits of Swiipr’s digital payments systems.”

Last month Norse Atlantic Airways announced an extension of its partnership with Swiipr, expanding the use of its solution at its US hubs New York JFK, Miami, LAX and Las Vegas.

The Norwegian airline became the third carrier to integrate with the travel paytech company in the US.

There are now 28 airports across the US where airlines that have integrated with Swiipr.

Swiipr is used by 26 airlines across 70 countries.
