Travelink launches Viewdata, reluctantly
Travelink has adjusted to enable Viewdata, after saying for years that is was going to die.
Travelink managing director, David Jones told TravelMole: “After all the argument over Viewdata it looks like we are going back on ourselves. Don’t get me wrong, we do do this reluctantly, but loads of operators have come to us saying they are interested in our system, but must sell through Viewdata.
“We have not been all that successful at getting the high volume Summer sun operators that are sold on the high street. Those operators have always used Anite and FSS, and it got to the point where we were losing business”.
Travelink’s sales director, Howard Frost (pictured) said: “We have tried to put off developing Viewdata for many years. But the pressure from Summer sun tour operators to take up Travelink is now irresistible”.
Mr Jones told TravelMole that Travelink were already in talks with operators. He said: “I would be extremely surprised if we are not in the position to announce a couple of summer sun operators switching to us over the next few weeks”.
Anyone interested in speaking to Travelink can visit them at their stand at WTM (TT582).
