TSA under fire after off-duty cop boarded flight with gun

The Transportation Security Administration is again under scrutiny after missing a gun in a carry-on bag.
The firearm’s owner passed through a Los Angeles airport security checkpoint with the gun earlier this month undetected.
Noell Grant, who is a Santa Monica police officer, flew to Asia on vacation but was detained during a stopover in Taiwan when she realized the gun was in her bag.
"Standard procedures were not followed and a police officer did in fact pass through the checkpoint with a firearm," said TSA public affairs manager Nico Melendez.
"We’ll hold those responsible appropriately accountable."
"We know that she left out of here – out of LAX – arrived in Taiwan, at which point she notified officials in Taiwan that she inadvertently left a weapon in her bag, being the gun that was found," said Santa Monica police spokesman Lt. Saul Rodriguez.
Rodriguez said the gun was ‘personal, off-duty’ weapon and not a police service gun.
Grant is still being detained in Taiwan
