Two passengers were reported injured after a United Airlines flight had to take evasive action abruptly during its descent into San Francisco Airport.
It happened after the pilots had to abruptly alter course due to a midair collision warning.
Although the plane from Newark was in its descent, one of the injured passengers was not wearing a seatbelt.
The plane eventually landed safely without further incident.
Another plane was flying close by at a lower altitude.
“United flight 2428 was descending to SFO when it slowed its descent to account for another aircraft at a lower altitude. Two customers, including one who was out of their seat at the time, reported possible injuries and were transported to a hospital,” United said.
“We’re grateful to our crew for their efforts to ensure the safety of our employees and customers.”
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
This will include the review of air traffic control communications from both aircraft.
