The government is reportedly urging other European countries to “go public” on banned airlines that continue to operate.
According to The Daily Telegraph, while Whitehall names and shames carriers that are banned by naming them on the Department for Transport website, other European Union countries do not adopt the same policy.
In fact, many other countries are not allowed to name banned carriers on the grounds that doing so would break commercial confidentiality laws.
The newspaper reports that, at present, the UK will not admit aircraft flown by carriers in Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Tajikstan, Sierra Leone, Mauritania and Swaziland.
