Citing a lack of demand, United Airlines will halt Newark-Bermuda flights between December 3 and April 2.
The carrier said customers with flights already booked for the affected dates will be given refunds or offered alternative travel.
Next year’s summer schedule will be unaffected and will resume in April at the same level as this year.
During a similar period last winter United reduced its year-round Bermuda-New York daily service to four times a week.
Bermuda Tourism Development Minister Shawn Crockwell said he hopes other airlines will make up for the shortfall in winter services.
"Fortunately, we continue to have the commitment of other longstanding carriers out of the New York area during the winter — American, Delta and JetBlue," Crockwell said.
"We’ll work closely with these valued airline partners to help ensure their continued success and that we have the necessary airlift."
United also announced it will run a weekly seasonal service from Chicago to Belize, beginning December 20.
This is the first nonstop flight between the destinations and is due to run until May 2015.
