United’s £1/$1.6 billion loan bid rejected

United Airlines has failed in an attempt to gain £1/$1.6 billion in US government loan guarantees.
The rejection of the request by the second largest airline in the US will make it more difficult to emerge from bankruptcy.
It is the second time the Air Transportation Stabilisation Board has rejected the carrier.
