Unruly passenger hit with big fine
An inflight meltdown has proved to be an expensive lesson for an American Airlines passenger.
Cayla Farris was sentenced to nearly three and a half months of time served and must pay a big fine.
Farris must compensate the airline $38,952 due to her actions causing a flight diversion.
She pleaded guilty to interfering with a flight crew member.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s office in Arizona the unruly passenger threatened flight crew members during the Phoenix to Hawaii flights in 2022.
The captain opted to return to Phoenix due to her behavior.
According to court documents she also threatened other passengers.
“My behavior escalated to the point that air crew members were intimidated and unable to perform their duties,” the plea deal said.
Faris must serve three years of supervised probation. During this time, she must inform authorities if she plans to travel by air.
The meltdown stemmed from her refusal to wear a mask during the flight.

I hope she’s on the no fly list ! It seems like she informs them of her travel plans first only .
