UPDATED: Nigerian airline resumes services

Monday, 24 September 20123 min read

Nigeria’s largest airline, Arik Air, has resumed its domestic flights after a staff dispute led to a flight suspension.

The airline claimed it was no longer able to operate safely after staff working for the Nigerian Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) raided its operations.

It claimed they blocked check-in counters and chained doors to boarding gates.

Arik Air is in a row with FAAN over claims that the airline has not been paying fees.

However meetings were held with government officials over the weekend and the airline claims the dispute has been resolved.

International services operated by the airline, which also flies between Lagos and London and New York, were unaffected.
