US air security: no pie in the sky

Thursday, 28 Nov, 2006 0

Most air travelers by now know their hair gel and shaving cream are no-nos. But at Cleveland’s Hopkins international Airport, the security folks took the cake.

Not really a cake, but about a dozen baked pies were confiscated.

“Pie filling apparently is banned from carry-on luggage, too,” wrote The Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The pies were ultimately donated to the airport’s United Service Organizations lounge, which caters to traveling soldiers.

“If the pies are safe enough for the servicemen to eat, how are they too dangerous to let on the planes?” asked one of the many bloggers who commented on the seizure.
