It’s about to get more expensive for would-be travelers needing to renew their passport. The US State Department announced the surcharge security fee on all passport applications will increase by $20.
It takes effect on December 27, 2021. It is necessary ‘to ensure we continue to produce one of the most secure travel and identity documents in the world’ the State Department said.
Passport renewals will then cost $130, while first-time adult applicants must pay $165.
