US’s only floating barge offers anniversary packages
RiverBarge Excursions, which says it is the only floating hotel barge in the US, is celebrating its tenth-year anniversary with an eight-day excursion and reduced pricing both for guests and travel professionals.
The eight-day journey next August will sail through the Ohio and Mississippi River through five historic locks. Stops will include Louisville, KY, and Cape Girardeau, Mo., before ending with an overnight stay in St. Louis.
The all-inclusive package, called America’s Junction, ranges from $2,479 for the Royal Deck to $2,659 for the Platinum Deck (the Platinum Deck staterooms feature a small balcony). Prices are per person, based on double occupancy.
Agents earn 10% commissions on individual bookings, a 15% commission on group bookings, a 10% group discount and a special tour conductor offer — one free berth for every 10 full-fare guests.
Clients, on the other hand, can receive a reduced single occupancy supplement from 25% to 50%, as well as all-inclusive pricing in one of the 98 staterooms (all meals, soft drinks, scheduled shore activities, onboard entertainment, port charges and taxes). No tipping is allowed.
