Venus Wins Award for Beach Exploits

Another green victory for the ‘people’s republic of Totnes’ (the transition town which even has its own currency).

Locally based responsible beach caterer the Venus company has just won a gold green award from GTBS.

Venus, has four sites in Devon and Cornwall, and recently celebrated winning two major business awards in two weeks.

A couple of months past Venus was announced as the winner of British Small Business Champions 2008, Southern Area with a £1,000 cash prize towards the business. Venus now goes forward to compete against the other five champions from across the UK, for the title of National Champion 2008.

This Award followed hot on the heels of Venus being presented with a coveted Business in the Community Big Tick and Impact on Society for a Small Company Award for its commitment to the local economy and the environment.

Venus was formed in 1995 by Michael and Louisa Smith with Lee Porter, to offer alfresco Mediterranean style eating and bring the professionalism of the High Street to stunning beach settings, whilst creating a brand and trademark renown for quality and corporate responsibility.

Based in South Devon, the company has Venus Cafes at Blackpool Sands, East Portlemouth and Bigbury on Sea in South Devon and Tolcarne in Cornwall with Venus Beach Shops at Blackpool Sands, East Portlemouth and Tolcarnne.

Michael Smith, managing director said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be recognised by these leading, well respected organisations in the UK. Venus shows that business success can equate with positive only benefits to the local environment and community. The Awards are a fantastic tribute to the dedicated team at Venus who work hard every day to offer the best in quality and environmentally friendly product.” www.venuscompany.co.uk
