Virgin Atlantic has relaxed requirements for female cabin crew, allowing them to go make-up free.
It is also issuing trousers as standard to female crew.
The airline said it was a ‘significant change’ to its rules.
In a statement it said: "As an airline, we have always stood out from the crowd and done things differently to the rest of the industry. We want our uniform to truly reflect who we are as individuals while maintaining that famous Virgin Atlantic style. We have been listening to the views of our people and as a result have announced some changes to our styling and grooming policy that support this.
"Not only do the new guidelines offer an increased level of comfort, they also provide our team with more choice on how they want to express themselves at work. Helping people to be themselves is core to our desire to be the most loved travel company."
A spokeswoman said although crew are no longer required to wear any make up they are still ‘very welcome’ to wear any of its existing palette of make-up, including lipstick and foundations, set out in Virgin Atlantic’s guidelines.
Trousers are now available as an option for all women and will be provided as standard when joining the airline.
Until now, trousers have always been available to female crew, but they had to be specially requested from our uniform department
British Airways allowed its female crew to wear trousers back in 2016 but still requires female crew to wear make-up.
