Visit Britain gets down to business in Bangkok

Monday, 14 May 20123 min read

Visit Britain is up and about in Bangkok this week with DEBI – the Asia travel trade show, Destination Britain and Ireland 2012.

The three-day event will include business appointments, seminars and briefings from Visit Britain’s director of overseas network, Keith Beecham; marketing director for Britain Laurence Bresh and Jim Paul, director of Australia and developing markets, Tourism Ireland.

Seventy UK and Irish suppliers – the largest ever delegation of British tourism businesses to the event – will be talking to potential buyers at Bangkok’s Shangri-La Hotel.

Among them will be Liverpool Football Club, Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum and Tour, London & Partners, Harrods and Manor House Hotels and Irish Country Hotels.

The 100-strong contingent of buyers includes representatives from Japan, Korea, the Middle East and China.

Most of China’s top travel companies will be in attendance, including representatives from Ctrip, CYTS and Guangzhou GZL International Travel Service.

Beecham said 2011 was a strong year for visits and spend from the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions, "especially from Australia, China and Singapore.

"Australia, India, UAE and China reached or maintained their highest rank for visit numbers in that year," he said.
