Nick Wrightman’s wife Viv has defended their company, Tapestry Holidays, following criticisms posted by some Travelmole.com subscribers.
The couple received hundreds of messages of praise after the Tapestry MD made an emotional and frank account of why the business failed.
However, two of the latest comments posted on Travelmole.com have hit out at him for ‘self-absorption’ and for leaving accommodation owners in debt.
“What a hypocrite!” said one critic, Catherine Ham. “The self-absorption is striking. What’s missing from this tearjerker is any remorse for the all the honest, hardworking people he so conveniently neglected to pay.
“He owes a large amount of money in Pelion, Greece, where he has put innocent people, who trusted him completely, into debt. Sickening!”
Her views were supported by David McGregor, who posted his opinion two days later.
“Catherine Ham finally brings some sense to this story!” he said.
“I was asking myself whether anyone would make a balanced view to this bible-bashing debriefing of the Tapesty failure.
“The self-absorption quite ridiculous! Is this what the trade is coming to, with people feeling sorry for themselves, as they see the travel trade imploding? Seems so from reading the testimonials.”
In response to these comments, Viv Wrightman has now posted a response on Travelmole.com on behalf of the couple, saying:
“Obviously we are deeply concerned as to the debts that we have left to some property owners this year.
“However, having traded for over 14 years, can you, Catherine Ham, even begin to imagine the money and prosperity we have given to so many property owners. The wealth we have created for so many is probably something they would never have imagined.
“So, whilst I appreciate and am sorry that we have left a few debts in some countries over the last few months, I think you will find that most if not all have flourished from Tapestry’s input.
“The proof of this is that the majority of owners have contacted us asking to work with us again in the future if this was ever possible.”
She said unlike many other operators, Tapestry was committed still paid for rooms if they were left empty.
