A Thai budget airline had to issue a statement yesterday after it was mistakenly believed to be in a collision.
Nok Air, which takes it name from the Thai word for bird, was wrongly understood to have collided with an AirAsia flight, when it fact the flight was involved in a bird strike.
As confusion spread across social media platforms, Nok Air felt it was necessary to clarify the situation, issuing a tweet which said:
"We would like to clarify that Nok Air did not clip another aircraft today, the other aircraft suffered a bird (real ones) strike."
The AirAsia flight from Bangkok that hit the bird landed safely in the southern Thai city of Nakhon Si Thammarat carrying 151 passengers.
According to reports, the bird strike left a "scratch" on the edge of the aircraft’s left wing but the Airbus jet returned to service later that day.
