Wave Goodbye to Fay Affected Changed Flight Fees
On Sunday, U.S. airlines Delta Air Lines said they would waive change fees for customers traveling on flights impacted by Tropical Storm Fay. Delta said customers booked on flights through select Florida and Georgia cities could change travel schedules without penalties or fees due to flooding and high winds expected from the storm.
Delta customers who purchased tickets by 16 August for flights to, from or through the affected areas between 16 and 21 August may make a one-time change without penalty or additional fees if tickets are changed by 21 August 2008.
This applies to Delta, Delta Connection or Delta-coded flights. Travel must begin on or before 21 August 2008. Changes to origin and destination may result in a fare increase. Any fare difference between the original ticket and the new ticket must be paid at the time of rebooking.
Jet Blue said separately that it too would waive change fees and fare differences to allow customers booked to travel to or from certain affected Florida airports between 18 August and 20 August to voluntarily rebook their flights.
It is recommended to check the respective airline’s websites for any storm related changes.
