Website launched for independent hotels
Hotelbook.com, a new website for independent hotels, is to be launched by Pegasus Solutions on Monday.
The site is designed to help users search for independent hotels with “unique personalities” worldwide.
It includes nearly 5,000 hotels in 144 different countries and 1,564 cities, with 2,000 of them in the Americas, 2,500 in Europe and more than 500 in the Asia/Pacific region.
Participating hotels are customers of Pegasus and include Utell by Pegasus, Unirez by Pegasus and a selection of properties from Pegasus’ private label hotels.
Hotelbook.com will offer more than 30 separate search criteria including country, city and region, as well as type of location such as city centre, rural/country, mountain, lakeside, beach or airport and hotel style including small hotel, chic/boutique, luxury, apartment or resort.
Other features include nearby things to do such as golf, water sports, skiing, spa/beauty, racket sports, fishing, casino or dancing; and amenity options including swimming pool, bar, business centre, disability services, fitness centre, internet access, pets allowed, restaurant, room service and parking.
The site also provides destination information for locations where it has hotels, including information on local events, climate, airlines that serve the destination, passport and visa requirements and currency rates.
Pegasus chief operating officer Bob Boles claimed: “This is the first website designed solely to help independent hotels and small hotel groups capture a larger share of online hotel bookings.
“People are becoming more comfortable booking their accommodations online. In fact, online hotel bookings now account for one in five bookings, up from one in 12 just three years ago.
“Hotelbook.com will enable independent hoteliers, who have a uniquely valuable product to offer, to attract more of these travellers.
“Hotelbook.com will be a retail site similar to other internet channels. What’s truly unique about hotelbook.com is that it highlights the amazing variety and amenities of independent hotels available to consumers, even in locations where the large hotel chains might not have a presence.
“Additionally, with hotelbook.com, our hoteliers will retain complete control of their rates and inventory, helping to ensure optimal revenue management for each property.”
