Wellington Airport was closed this morning after a huge hailstorm.
The runway was shut down at 9am after what an airport spokesman described as “humungous” storm.
Some flights were delayed and others diverted to Palmerston North.
The spokesman said firemen were washing the hail away in an effort the speed up the reopening.
