This year is set to be an exciting one for Seattle. Developments throughout the city, including improvements to the waterfront and the expansion of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, offer exciting new reasons to visit.

That’s in addition to the city existing museums, art galleries, top restaurants, and outdoor pursuits.

In March, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) will unveil an expanded international arrivals facility to better serve its visitors. SEA is one of the top 10 busiest in the US and in 2019 received 51.8m passengers; an increase of 5.5% international arrivals on the previous year.

Once complete, improvements will include eight new gates, increasing passenger capacity and reducing connection time, in addition to a new aerial walkway connecting passengers to the South Satellite terminal.

Seattle’s waterfront is also undergoing a major resurgence. The current home of Seattle Aquarium as well as numerous restaurants and shops, the improved waterfront will include a new park promenade, elevated connections between Pike Place Market and the waterfront, and the rebuilding of Pier 58 and Pier 62.

Construction will begin with the Pier 58 rebuild and improvements to Pike and Pine Streets introducing more green spaces and making it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to navigate. The project is expected to be completed in its entirety in 2024.

Liz Johnson, Director, International Tourism, at Visit Seattle, said: “The last two years have been nothing if not challenging but Seattle has seen, and is continuing to see, huge amounts of improvements citywide.”
