Thousands of people have been evacuated as wildfires hit the Canary Islands and parts of mainland Spain.
A firefighter was killed battling a blaze in woods near Alicante over the weekend.
On the Canary islands of Tenerife and La Gomera wildfires have led to the evacuation of over 4000 people.
The Canarian Government has charted a Fred Olsen ferry to help with the evacuation of La Gomera and according to local reports 3,000 people are now crowding into the Las Vueltas port area of Valle Gran Rey.
On la Gomera, firefighters are battling to stop the fire spreading to the populated areas of Vallehermoso in the north and further into Garajonay National Park, a Unesco World Heritage Site which contains woodlands that have survived since the Tertiary age, some 11 million years ago.
It is believed the fires in La Gomera had been started deliberately because they started from two focal points, two miles apart.
Spain has been particularly prone to forest fires this summer after its driest winter in 70 years.
