Worldspan agents will have no-frills access next month
Agents and corporates in Europe using Worldspan will be able to book no-frills fares through the GDS from mid December.
The announcement from Worldspan, which was anticipated by TravelMole in September, follows an agreement with FareChase. The no-frills fares will be available through a system called Total Rate on Worldspan’s Go, InternetSM desktop PC platform, and through the Worldspan Trip ManagerSM corporate self-booking tool.
Total Rate will allow agents to access the same inventory of no-frills airline websites that is available to the consumer. It means agents do not have to search through individual no-frills websites outside of the GDS. Worldspan vice-president for EMEAA, Graham Nichols told TravelMole: “This is a value-adding product, so there will be a price for it, which is being decided at the moment. But it will be affordable”.
Worldspan intends to deploy FareChase User Recognition System technology, which will automate access and allow users to integrate itineraries booked through the system into their back office.
